FALK VAWT

Unique Norwegian technology with global potential

Turn energy costs into value creation

Falk VAWT enables companies to produce their own renewable energy and create long-term economic value. The wind turbines are installed on existing commercial and industrial sites, without encroaching on untouched nature or affecting wildlife.

TECHNOLOGY

The technology behind FALK VAWT

FALK VAWT is a patented vertical wind turbine developed for installation close to the consumer - in industrial areas, on commercial buildings and along existing infrastructure. Where conventional turbines require large, open areas, FALK VAWT is designed to operate close to people and buildings: quiet, self-starting at low wind speeds, and with a visual expression adapted to urban surroundings.

Quiet operation

No aerodynamic noise, reduced risk of ice throw and a minimal safety zone around the turbine.

Self-starting in low wind

High torque already at low wind speeds - with no need for large, open areas.

Gentle on nature and wildlife

Low blade-tip speed significantly reduces the risk of bird collisions and the impact on the surroundings.

Higher power output than comparable technology

A turbine in the 100-500 kW range generates enough electricity in a year to cover the consumption of 10-50 households, or the equivalent of a small to medium-sized industrial business.

Test results are consistent with the research and show stable and efficient power transfer even at low wind speeds. The turbine has very good efficiency - on par with conventional turbines.

Low energy costs

Local energy production delivered directly to the customer - with costs on par with hydropower.

OUR JOURNEY

From research to full-scale pilot

01

2022 · R&D

Research and development

Between 2019 and 2022, three research and development projects were carried out. The main goal was to evaluate the power potential of the technology concept.

02

2024 · Prototype

Patent and prototype

In early 2024, Falk Energy received patent protection for the VAWT technology and concept, and entered the construction phase for the prototype. The prototype was commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2024.

03

2025 · First Power

Test of the FALK VAWT prototype

The First Power test of the FALK VAWT prototype was carried out in March 2025. Subsequent operation, testing, and documentation have continued on an ongoing basis.

04

2027 · FALK VAWT Pilot

Full-scale pilot

Falk Energy has entered into a pilot agreement with BULK Infrastructure, with the goal of building a full-scale pilot for further testing of power delivery to the data center at Støleheia in Vennesla municipality.

05

2035 · GLOBAL SCALING

Billion-revenue ambition in a global market

From 2035, the ambition is billion-scale revenue in a global market. FALK VAWT will be established as an attractive investment case for players who see the technology's major commercial potential, while we build Norwegian technology industry and create jobs.

ABOUT US

About Falk Energy

Falk Energy AS was founded by entrepreneur Oddbjørn Falkgjerdet, with a clear vision: to develop wind power technology that works where traditional turbines don't - close to people, buildings and infrastructure.

It started as a personal project in 2019, when Oddbjørn made a crucial choice: either bring the idea to life, or set it aside for good. With strong belief in its potential, the first design drafts were developed together with leading Norwegian research communities.

Support from national and regional research funds, combined with intensive engineering work, produced important breakthroughs. In 2024 Falk Energy received patent protection for the VAWT technology, and in March 2025 the first VAWT prototype was successfully tested («First Power»). The next step is a full-scale pilot in collaboration with BULK Infrastructure, with the aim of delivering power to the data centre at Støleheia in Vennesla municipality.

Falk Energy is driven by a genuine commitment to the environment. Our technology is our contribution to the future.

The Team

Behind Falk Energy is a multidisciplinary team with solid experience and expertise - brought together to develop the company from a start-up into a player with the potential for billion-scale revenue in a global market.

  • Oddbjørn Falkgjerdet - founder, CEO and majority owner
  • Tor Hellestøl - strategy, business development and investor (BlueLeap)
  • Bjørn-Tore Lenes - strategy, investor and chairman of the board (NorEnergy Invest)

Falk Energy is built on a clear partner strategy, with established collaborations with a range of players to deliver competitive wind power technology going forward.

Patented

FALK VAWT received patent protection in 2024, following several years of innovation and development work.

Full-scale pilot

Together with BULK Infrastructure, we are building a full-scale pilot to be installed at the data centre at Støleheia in Vennesla municipality.

Built for urban-adjacent areas

Reduced noise and a minimal footprint make FALK VAWT suitable where traditional turbines don't fit.
